Catholics can not and must not vote for Lisa Murkowski

The following is a story that is running in the new edition of the Catholic Anchor. The paper asked the Senatorial candidates a series of 10 questions most closely connected to Catholic doctrine and teaching. For us Catholics all we have to read is number #1 and know how we can and can't vote. There are non-negotiables we must adhere to as Catholics, regardless of our ideas about government. Some will try and paint the positive law as the highest law of the land, but it is not. Natural Law is supreme, and in fact guided the positive law our founders used as the philosophical basis for the Constitution, Bill of Rights, and federal statutes. We must not be confused and tricked by political rhetoric.

The following excerpt from the Senatorial profile in the Anchor is more than enough information to read to know that as a Catholic it would be WRONG and Anti-Catholic to vote for Lisa Murkowski. I challenge ANYONE, lay or religious, to debate me on this. I will accept that challenge publicly if need be.

At the Red Mass held at the Cathedral in Anchorage a few weeks ago, I was violently assaulted while going up to receive the Body and Blood of Christ when I saw a woman with a Scott McAdams button on. I was assaulted in the same way when watching the recent KAKM debate and Sen. Murkowski espoused what essentially equates to the Albigensian Heresy. We can not and must not elect officials like this, especially ones like Sen. Murkowski who stand behind the banner of The Faith.

Alaska U.S. Senate candidates answer questions about abortion, immigration, ‘gay marriage’ and capital punishment

Lisa Murkowski (R)

Joe Miller (R)
The Catholic Anchor asked each of the Alaskan candidates for U.S. Senate to respond to a list of questions related to the issues of abortion, immigration, religious freedom, embryonic stem cell research, school vouchers and capital punishment. Candidates Joe Miller (Republican), Lisa Murkowski (Republican), David Haase (Libertarian) and Ed Gianoutsos (Non-affiliated) responded below. Candidate Scott McAdams (Democrat) did not respond to the questions.
1. Do you support overturning the U.S. Supreme Court’s 1973 ruling in Roe v. Wade, which asserted the existence of a federal constitutional right to abortion?
JOE MILLER: Yes.
LISA MURKOWSKI: No. As a life-long Roman Catholic, I am personally opposed to the practice of abortion. As an elected official however, I am required by the Constitution and my oath of office to uphold the law of the land.
SCOTT McADAMS: Did not respond.
DAVID HAASE: Life begins at conception; life is given by God to the woman carrying it to care for it, not the federal government. Government needs to get out of God’s business. I would do everything in my power to persuade a lady not to have an abortion. However, to call in the government to stop and or punish her, that is past standing in the way of a sinner.
TED GIANOUTSOS: I support replacing Roe with a “Prevention first, abortion last” law that is more restrictive. Preventing unwanted pregnancies is the only practical way to dramatically reduce abortions.

Lisa Murkowski: Wrong for Catholics, Wrong for Alaska

As most of you reading this are probably well aware, I have stayed out of the political fray during the general election cycle. In fact, I have stayed away from my blog for quite a while. My readership is down, and I regret that for one reason. This post is possibly the most important post I have made pertaining to Alaskan Catholics, and American Catholic Politics in general for that matter.

•°- the kingdom of man -°•
You see, here in Alaska we currently have 2 Senators. Both, list themselves as Catholic. Tragically, neither of them would ever pass a test given to Catholic public officials of whether they uphold the faith in their actions as public servants. Even more heart-wrenching, Lisa Murkowski goes not only against her party and her faith, but publicly flaunts her hypocrisy and heresy by attending Mass around the state and receiving communion, while voting for and sponsoring legislation in clear contradiction to the precepts of the faith.

St. Thomas More, one of the patrons of this blog and featured in the masthead, said famously during his trial where he faced punishment of death that "...I am the King's faithful servant, but God's first." This is how ALL Catholic public officials should live, with this as their Motto. Unfortunately, if you asked Lisa Murkowski this question: "Whom do you work for, whom do you serve first and foremost?" I am deathly - eternally, afraid that she would say, "The people."

•°- not in good conscience -°•
We know Sen. Murkowski's record on abortion. (If you dont, you can read it here: [Link]) The most troubling part, is how she explains her basic stance on it. It relates to her vision of the role she has as a Senator. It relates to whom she feels she serves first and foremost. That master is not God, that master is man and the state. She has stated repeatedly that:
As a woman, and as a mother, I believe that abortion is a very personal issue that must be left to a woman and her physician, and not to elected officials.
For those that haven't read Archbishop Chaput's book, Render Unto Caesar, I beg of you... I plead with you, please go read that book before voting. [You can buy the book here.] He puts out in print what we as Catholics need to understand as people that are engaged in society and the responsibilities placed upon us. Voting and public service are part of the highest duties we must observe. What we must not do, is ignore our Catholic conscience and operate in a manner that is pragmatic, self-serving, or that focuses on the needs of man before the will of God.

•°- we must not, we can not -°•
I prayed about this post heavily, for weeks. I obviously was a Joe supporter during the primary, mostly because of Murkowski's past record, and what Joe offered that she did not. Joe is not Catholic, although his wife was raised Catholic and still adheres to the faith, his values and principles are much more in-line with Catholic teaching than Sen. Murkowski's. Therefore, my humble little blog endorsed Joe. Not that it mattered.

At this point, not only am I endorsing Joe again, but I am pleading with fellow Alaskan Catholics that we must not, and can not vote for Lisa Murkowski in good conscience. Look, we know Joe has made mistakes in the past, and some of them seem to be contradictory to where he stands today. But all of these things were in the past, and he stands before Alaskans today with a new vision, and a new resolve. He doesn't make excuses for his transgressions.

Lisa on the other hand does. Her record on Abortion is ghastly. Her explanation is different depending on the audience and the proximity to an election. Lisa side-steps the abortion question, side-steps her faith when it is brought up, and side-steps how her faith intertwines with her duty as a Senator.
Her record on Native Issues, those in disadvantaged situations, is weak. Her stance on spending, taxes, and jobs is that of a statist. Combined with her apparent socio-political philosophy, she is the furthest thing from a More-ian or Chaputian Catholic official. She was over the top in last nights debate when she disagreed with teaching Creationism in schools, in any way shape or form, although she did want to note that "God gave us our souls, but..." I won't even get into how she essentially asserted the Albigensian Heresy, I think you get the picture.

•°- this isn't about politics... -°•
I don't want to mention the economy, jobs, spending, the deficit, Obama-care, or anything of the sort. I want to mention one thing... when we get to Heaven, every single action or inaction that we make in our lives will be weighed against us. I pray that I will be convicted of being faithful to God and choosing him above all else. That is why, I must compel you all to vote for Joe Miller and not vote for Lisa Murkowski. Scott McAdams is so anti-life, pro-Obama Care, anti-family that he shouldn't even enter the equation.

This is about life. This is about God. This is about family, country, freedom, and eternity.

A Catholic in good conscience can not, and must not vote for Lisa Murkowski. There is no sound, valid, or legitimate argument that a person can have that could justify a person to vote for her. If you think you have one, I ask you to email me, and plead your case. I am confident that based on CATHOLIC TEACHING, and not my own opinion, I can convince you otherwise.

This post isn't about her as a person, or her heart. I cannot judge her in that way, and I shall not. I have had limited personal interaction with her. (I was hoping to see her at the Red Mass this fall, but she was absent although she later that day had a RALLY only a couple of miles from the Cathedral where she invoked the "Yes We Can" rally cry of Barack Obama.) This post is about her as an elected official, one that calls herself Catholic.

Lisa Murkowski is the closest thing to a modern day Richie Rich.
It profits a Senator nothing to trade their soul for the whole world, but for Alaska?

Lisa Murkowski is wrong for Catholics and wrong for Alaskans.

HOW NOT TO SABOTAGE YOUR DIET BY BEING PREPARED

BE PREPARED

Nothing in life gets done properly without planning and preparation.

Imagine knowing you were to have a child and did no preparation for the birth or after. It just wouldn’t work. The same type of thought must apply to your everyday life.

When you go to the gym, you should already know exactly what workout you are doing so it can be an intense effective workout. Prepare your meals beforehand so you do not find yourself slipping into eating the junk food that may readily be available. Being prepared keeps you focused and on the right track to success.

Fruit

3 – 5 servings daily
1 serving equals: 1/2 cup cut fruit, whole fruit size of tennis ball, half a banana, 1/2 cup 100% fruit juice

Fresh fruit is filled with vitamins, nutrients and minerals. As with your veggies, choose a variety of colors to ensure that your kids are getting a range of nutrients.

Stay away from fruits that are canned and coated in syrup, and also from fruit snacks and chews that contain added sugars. If fresh fruit is not readily available then go for plain dried fruit, with no added sugar.
Unlike veggies, it is possible to eat too much fruit. Though the natural sugars within fruit are much healthier than refined sugar, too much of it will have a negative impact on your blood sugar levels and the extra calories will be stored as fat. Stick with 3 – 5 servings per day.

Whooo Sisters!

This morning, I had just left the grocery store and was sitting at a red light.  I looked to my left and was delighted to see a car full of nuns right next to me. (Nuns just make me smile.)  These four women in their blue and white habits were bopping along to the music on the radio, which was a little loud to tell you the truth.  I watched them grooving to the music when they suddenly clapped in unison and twirled their arms over their heads.  It made my day.

Their simple joy in dancing and singing in the car was infectious.  I cranked up my own music, ready to dance all the way home.  I'm not sure what they were listening to, it sounded Bollywood-ish but I could be mistaken.  I just know that at that moment I wanted to be in their car singing and dancing with the Brides of Christ.

My 10 year old smiled at me and winked a little.  ( He thinks he's so cool.) "Now we know," he said.

"Know what?"  I ashed him.

"Why them." He explained.  "Jesus could marry anyone.  He's God.  That's a pretty good catch.  Of course he would pick the fun ones who dance."

You're right son.  Now we know.

Alisha turned 4 years on 18th Oct- images of the celebrations uploaded!

View the rest of the images Here, on Facebook!

We celebrated Alisha's birthday on the 18th of Oct, last week and, it was a great continuation of our this years celebrations. she turned 4 years old was so excited with the tom cake and as you can see in the pics, where she already tried to dig in to it before we could light the candles! As only tom, and only tom would do for her as i said in the previous post, we had to give in to her wishes :) The best part was when the cake was cut and we were about to feed her a piece... she took the piece from her dads hand and put it into he own mouth which made us all laugh. hahaha... The little girl enjoyed her day with all her other tiny tot friends and i'm so happy for her.

Throughout the last few months i had kept noticing the sweet changes in my little lady, like how she has transformed from a baby into a little girl who knows how to convince her parents and close ones with her innocent antics.

Oh i just cant believe how unfair i was not to write about her for a over a year :( I remember how she weaned herself when i first got sick this year. She and i, we both struggled to separate or rather adjust ourselves out of the mother, baby bonding we had between us during nursing times because i needed to stop her from breastfeeding as per docs advice and because, it also over 3 years and time she stopped.

During the past one year she has been a sweetheart, lively and playful, always lighting my life in good and bad phases. She already been framing sentences very well by the ending of 2009 and now she is kind of an expert at Hindi and English at this age. I'm proud she is able to converse in both her parents languages. One day she comes and asks me, "mamma i cant find my little bottle (of water), i kept it here, you saw it?" she refers to anything she is close to or likes as 'little' because i call her 'little baby' too. She is still not going to school but she will...

Little girls at three age cant resist breaking up theirs moms make-up and that's exactly what she did to mine too when my poor lipstick popped up and toppled over as soon as Alisha spied it! I don't approve of makeup for little girls of three for their skins too delicate to fight bacteria and make-up could cause harm. As she was nearing 3 years, that time itself she started putting on my platforms(shoes) and walking around... and even started admiring herself in the mirror! this reminds of me girls just wanna have fun!! hehe..

Three year old girls also want to look their best and my baby too, sometimes loves choosing her own colors and designs for clothes, etc. She still hates spiders but not to afraid of lizards. Sleeps quite late and loves good food and snacks and is not too fussy. But particular with cleanliness and anything out of the way. Shes too clever when it comes to searching vids and images on my phone which make her elders amazed at times. Gets irritated when she cant find her free space but since we have moved to this huge house she is one gem of a doll always playful and keeps lighting our life with her smile :)

Democrat Accuses Republican in Missouri of 'Priest Shuffling'

Erick Erickson over at Red State posted today about some slimery over in Missouri.

I know, I know... I am supposed to be on hiatus, and here I am posting... about, of all things, Politics. There is a method to my madness. That being said here is part of the story:

This time, in Missouri, Democrat Russ Carnahan has coordinated a smear against his rival Ed Martin. Reboot Congress has details.
The attack alleges that Ed Martin was complicit in shuffling pedophile priests around St. Louis Catholic Churches while he served at the St. Louis Archdiocese
The people driving this campaign have been in the employ of Carnahan, which makes it more than a little futile for Carnahan to deny any connection. And that the Democrats have done this in multiple places in multiple campaigns tells you all you need to know about how they view Catholics.
There is a whole list of places where Catholicism is coming into play during this election cycle. I wish I could speak to it more... I just dont have the time. That being said here in our fair state we currently have two sitting Senators, both of which are allegedly Catholic. Now I know that I should not be judging hearts or souls, and I am not. I am judging actions...

Read Archbishop Chaput's book: 'Render Unto Caesar' before you vote. Know your duty to God when it comes to politics.

An Odd thing just happened...

I dont have a ton of time to read Catholic blogs right now... almost none in fact.
But this morning I decided to drop by: ... well, here.

As you know, aka the Mom has been posting, so I found it novel that I was reading my own blog, and then commenting.

I really appreciate her posting and enjoy it... I hope you all do as well.
(Good thing I never enacted the "No colored hair rule.")

Here Turkey, Turkey, Turkey......

My eldest daughter is preparing to go on her first hunting trip.  Her grandfather called her on the phone and said "Let's go get us a turkey." To my surprise, she said yes.

He's taken her to the range a few times and has pronounced her shooting skills to be "adequate." I'm not sure that's high praise, but we'll see.

She's my sweet girly cheerleader type of girl.  I'm not sure that he knows what kind of company he'll have.  She spent all last weekend trying to figure out what kind of eyeshadow looks best with her camouflage.

Missing Mass, Missing Him

I missed Mass yesterday morning.  My two youngest children, ages 1 and 3, were hit by a nasty stomach bug, and it would seem that nobody cleans up puking boys quite as well as mom does.

As my husband slipped out the front door for Mass with the 4 eldest children, I was cuddled under the covers on my bed with two fitfully sleeping sickies.  They snoozed while I watched a televised Mass.  I'm grateful that it exists, but the pain of not actually being there was real.  The priest elevated the Host at the Consecration and my heart clenched. There He was, and I felt so far away.

When my great-grandparents arrived in what was then the frontier, they had no idea when they would again be able to sit in the physical presence of Christ.  The only priest they saw was a traveling priest.  They were lucky if they saw him once every 3 months. ( I can't even imagine Mass only 4 times a year.)  This was a part of the reason priests were held in such esteem and the vocation was so respected.  Father would arrive in town and bring the Miracle of the Mass with him.

Perhaps we have lost something with our rapid transportation, ease of finding a Church, and our ability to take our Faith for granted.  It is so easy for us to find Him that we no longer go looking.  We never have to feel the ache of absence for more than a day or two, and our ease of access has bred complacency.

The constant noise from the media drowns out the sound our of souls crying out for Him.  The busyness of life gives us no time for reflection.  Our poor catechesis hasn't taught us that there is anything for which we should yearn.  We are a people too spoiled, too busy, too distracted to see the wonder of the miracle which is before us every Sunday.  How unfortunate we are in our good fortune.

It is only in the moments of forced silence and forced absence that I notice my hunger for my Lord.  It saddens me that this is true, but it is.  I spent all yesterday listening to the crying out of my soul.  When was the last time you listened to yours?

My princess Alisha's birthday is on the 18th of Oct

Alisha will be 4 years old on the 18th oct, 2010! I know its two days from now and the excitement has already set in. There’s a party for all close relatives and she will be dressed all in pink. We had ordered for her a chocolate cake with toms character decorated on it. Though we liked many pre-designed cakes in the huge catalogue in the Kathleen’s cake shop we didn’t find anything suitable to Alisha’s choice, but we managed to print out a picture of tom for the Kathleen’s cake shop to understand our needs. Tom and Jerry is her favorite character and i didn’t want to disappoint her with anything else other than her favorite, as not even Barbie would do! Right now at four i guess tom appeals to Alisha more than Barbie and Barbie can wait for a few more years to make her way into heart.

I already have her orders days before, to allow her to cut her own birthday cake (she doesn’t want me to hold the knife along with her), and says with actions “i will cut my cake, like this, and eat”… and while she says this her little hands show me how she would slice a piece of the cake, and putting her tiny whole palm and fingers into her mouth, shows me how she would eat the cake too! Haha

She is so happy she will be dressed as a fairy with the wings and the wand, like she watches on the cartoon network channel…

Few days ago, she was asking me if she will grow up like Bobby (Aryan) on her birthday while measuring her legs with her elder brothers… i said yes, and shes replies with a sad face, “mama my legs are small, i no grown abhi tak! Abhi tak means ‘till now’… and that’s her speaking with a mixture of Hindi and English.

UN/WHO and Experiments in Population Control

 *Cross-Posted at Shoved to Them*

The World Health Organization (WHO) states on its website that its agenda is "promoting development (socioeconomic); fostering health security; strengthening health systems; harnessing research, information and evidence; enhancing partnerships, and improving performance.  "  Nowhere on their site do they mention social experiments, forced infertility or eugenics, and yet the WHO appears to have been involved in all three.

During the early 1990s the WHO began a massive campaign against tetanus in Mexico, Nicaragua and the Philippines.  What was not disclosed to the participants in the campaign was that the vaccine vials had been tainted by the addition of hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin), a naturally occurring hormone which is essential to sustaining pregnancy.

When introduced into the body with a tetanus toxoid carrier, the woman's body forms antibodies against tetanus and also against the hCG.  These hCG antibodies will attack any future pregnancies by attacking and killing off the hCG which is necessary to sustaining the pregnancy causing miscarriage.

Women who participated in the vaccination campaign were actually vaccinated against their own developing children.

Vials of the vaccine in the Philippines tested positive for the inclusion of hCG.  These vials were all Canadian in origin and belonged to the WHO.  Individual women who experienced miscarriage after receiving the vaccine have been found to have hCG anti-bodies.

What do these three countries have in common apart from poverty?  All three are predominantly Catholic countries with burgeoning populations and (at that time) laws against contraception.

Since the 1970s, the WHO has been actively researching and looking for a pregnancy vaccine.  It was their research which proved that adding hCG to tetanus was feasible and effective.  (Vernon Stevens, "Progress in the development of human chorionic gonadotropin antifertility vaccines," American Journal of Reproductive Immunology, 1996, volume 35, 148-155.)  Researchers have now moved on to using diphtheria as the anigen link as it appears to deliver longer lasting infertility results.

At this time, reports of hCG laced vaccines are beginning to be reported in Nigeria, another predominantly Catholic country.

It is time that we as Americans and Catholic Christians begin calling for the withdrawal of the financial support of the United States of America from the World Health Organization.  Any good which they might do in the world is offset by these atrocious violations against the basic human rights of poor women around the world and their children.

The UN has declared war on the unborn children and their mothers in poor, predominantly Catholic countries in the name of eradicating poverty.  Christ has told us that the poor will always be with us.  They are ours to protect, help and care for, not to murder, poison and experiment upon.

Thank You, Archbishop Beltran!

After years of holding Masses in a rented space, the Traditional Latin Mass(TLM) community of Oklahoma City at last has a permanent home.

From the beginning, the Most Reverend Eusebius J. Beltran, Archbishop of Oklahoma City has shown his support of this small but vital community.  In the beginning, he helped the small group to find a rented space and then as their numbers increased and they began to look for a permanent home, he gave his blessing for the new church to be built upon the site of St Patrick's Catholic Church which was razed in 1960.

Ground was broken for the new church on November 2, 2009 and in February of this year, the Archbishop announced that the church would be named for the newly canonized St Damian of Molokai.  How fitting to have a new saint for this new church!

The church was officially opened two weeks ago and has held standing-room only Masses both weekends.  I pray that it will always be so.

In an age of puppet Masses, liberal looniness, and liturgical abuse, the good people of Oklahoma are holding the line, and with the help of our shepherd, are pushing back against secularism and a watering down of Catholic teaching and orthodoxy.  God bless Archbishop Beltran and may He fill His Church with such stalwart and faith-filled men.

Big boss 4 takes off with a seemingly masterminded blast!

It’s my most awaited reality show and, yesterday was the first show of big boss on colors. I got ready with my glass of sprite and a chicken bara which contains so n so calories, and couched up to watch Salman Khan, our very handsome Bollywood actor, the host of big boss 4 to welcome the house inmates and entertain us with his self-invented jittery jives. I thought Prena who was the first inmate to arrive would be interesting to watch as we know her as a very popular female television star and whose ex-husband caused great shocks in his presence in season 2 at big boss house or even the two Pakistanis who i believe are controversial queens in their own motherland as one is the estranged girlfriend of the cricketer Mohammad Asif and the other is a crossed-dressed host of a popular talk show, but alas, today first day itself it was Davinder Singh alias Bunty Chor (chor means thief) who stole the show first day first show itself! haha.. He has spent long 13 years in prison (jail) for carrying out 500 clever robberies! Phew! i already feel exhausted thinking of it... ;)

But one certain thing plays on my mind as to why Big boss no more sounds like its going to be boring since from the very first day we (the audience) remained glued to the screen to watch a cool but adamant and aggressively Bunty abuse and cover the cameras with socks, and without regret, walk out of the show after big boss lost patience on trying to reform him in a day! i wonder if the scripted version was being acted out today... hehe.. Because i feel, suddenly after three successful seasons, how come this season allowed an ex-prisoner who had allegedly escaped jail, in the house when they should have known him better through the controversies surrounding him? Damm irritating to watch all those inmates act, as i believe they were... big boss is it something to excite us more, i bet you have turned clever like other shows... :)

So, while i think the other inmates earned their moolah very easily, Bunty earned his too, in return earning big bosses more popularity from the curiosity of the audience!? a very good start... waiting for tomorrow... till then cya :)

Update:
The repeat of big boss 4 is at 11.30 pm

Extraordinary Form Mass - TONIGHT: Anchorage, Alaska

the quest
As many of you know, I am currently "Out of the Office" on a hiatus. I know I am a little cryptic, but there are reasons for that. That being said, I have been quite spiritually thirsty... even more so then normal. My routine has been chaotic, my spiritual needs have been but quite low on the priority list, and I just haven't had the encounters with the Sacred that I need. The worst part is, I am not even really in the Desert  that I have been in for the last year or so.

extraordinary...
Tonight... I am going to attempt to attend to those needs. I am going to be going to an Extraordinary Form Mass tonight, a Tridentine Rite aka Mass in the usus antiquior. It has been quite a while, since about March of this year. In fact... I almost forgot how to spell usus antiquior. I really need this... I am giddy and excited. Unfortunately I am going alone... my wife and I are still apart from one another. (Don't worry my hiatus has nothing to do with "US"; it is job related.

preparing for the encounter
So I am fasting... and praying. I don't have my Missal... so tonight will be about one thing, and one thing only. Opening my heart to the Worship of God. Whatever I intake tonight... will be from the Holy Spirit. What is really nice is that tomorrow I will be at the same church for the Red Mass. There are just times when one thirsts so much... and needs spiritual drink... hopefully mind will come this evening.

Pray for me... as I pray for you and all the Church.

Red Mass - Anchorage, Alaska; October 3rd @ 9:30am - Holy Family Cathedral

From the Catholic Anchor:
On Sunday, Oct. 3 at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Family Cathedral, Archbishop
Roger Schwietz will celebrate the annual Red Mass, and all are invited.
Held annually in many American cities, the Red Mass is a special Mass at
which the church prays for all who practice law, especially asking the
Holy Spirit's guidance for attorneys, judges and politicians.

After the Mass in Anchorage, there will be a brunch at the Marriott
Hotel. Alaska Governor Sean Parnell, Attorney General Dan Sullivan and
Superior Court Judge Frank Pfiffner are the keynote speakers.

The origins of the Red Mass are traced to the 13th century, when the
first known Red Mass was offered on behalf of the supreme court of the
Catholic Church, the Roman Rota. Clerics wear red vestments, since the
color signifies the Holy Spirit. The annual Red Mass celebrations in
Anchorage are sponsored by the St. Thomas More Lawyers' Society of
Alaska. All are welcome to the Mass. To make reservations for the
brunch, contact Jenny Michaelson at jmichaelson@caa-ak.org.
