I have been reading archived newspaper articles regarding Robert T Edwards because as co-founder and president of Youth Juice, and as past founder and president of Fundamerica, his name is up there when people think of scams. My interpretation of Fundamerica is it was like DirectBuy, you pay for a membership and you get discounts for stuff.
Unfortunately, it appears that Fundamerica was set up so that if you could afford to buy multiple memberships you could get paid more (cite: http://articles.latimes.com/1990-08-12/business/fi-1191_1_neighbor-couple-invested). Moreso, if you could talk your downline into buying multiple memberships that would get you a directship and therefore garner a higher percentage of commission off their purchases.
I cannot find anything that explains that part clearly enough, except that was the reason why the state of Florida ended up charging Fundamerica and Edwards with fraud.
The state of California did investigate the company in the late eighties and did not proceed with charges because they found nothing illegal going on (cite: http://articles.latimes.com/1991-04-26/business/fi-673_1_pyramid-scheme).
I could continue citing stuff but I have spent a few hours reading through articles positive and negative. I have seen it stated that the charges against the company and Edwards were dropped but I am unable to follow up with actual news reports on that as of yet. The best source so far is the LA Times but articles only go up to 1994. I'll keep looking because I'd like to know how the events played out.
BTW, I don't know who Shawn Noonan is and I have not found him on the excutive of Youth Juice. His name comes up with multiple postings of the same negative blog post (which is uncredited),on blogs which are usually selling a market rival of Acai or colon cleansing products. Hope that makes sense! It's one post copied and pasted to multiple other blogs. Sidenote: Taking a post from one blog and reposting it to your own is supposed to help up the blog in Google ranking because it increases traffic to the reposter - they are essentially riding on the coat tails of the original poster who did all the work in the first place....anyhow...
I'm back as to why I am writing this blog. The above happened 20 years ago. I am using a product that he is selling because I am feeling it working, not because I believe I will get rich by getting 20 or 50 or 100 people to buy it too. If you choose to use this product, it is because it works. If you choose to go with me to set up your account and be on my "team" so be it. I don't have time to "pilot" a Youth Juice team, I have an awesome friend who can do that and I can set you up with her if you wish to sell Youth Juice actively. I have my own sales team of AVON reps that I spend my spare time working with, I will not be asking anyone to go out and sell Youth Juice. If you want to sell AVON, certainly contact me and I'll get you started with training.
So there's my thoughts of the multi-level marketing aspect of Youth Juice, and my current research on the co-founder's history.
