Changes

Changes are sometimes good (going from a family of two to a family of three), and sometimes changes are bad (1-20-09). Hopefully, the changes that my parish are going through will be good.

We had a new priest appointed to the parish, we are making some changes to youth group (including bringing back young adults' group) and starting the Lay Ministry program. I am a little anxious to see how some of those changes will play out. (The previous Priest was at the parish for 13 years, and was very well liked.) This Priest has some "big shoes to fill." I'm also a little anxious about the lay ministry program. I know that it will help me, and the parish in many ways, but being as busy as I have been, I pray that I will be able to make the most I can of it.

Some of the other changes are a little more fun. We have been painting the youth group room from its stark white and royal blue to a "Mocha" and turquoise and rust. I am hoping to incorporate as much Catholic art and "touches" as possible. So far, we are going to be putting in pictures of the parish, and other things around the parish, as well as a large crucifix.

We are also going to be starting the year in 6 week blocks. We are anticipating that it will help alleviate kids not showing during holiday times, and testing times. Also, we are in need of ideas for fund raising for WYD 2011. So far, it looks like we may do a flag football tournament. If you have any other ideas, I would love to hear them!
