...make me smile. I love talking with them, especially once we are out of the Easter Season. Things have started to sink in, and many are in that, "I can't get enough of this" stage. Obviously, it is disappointing, when some feel as if they can never be fed enough... but it is still so cool to witness.
I learned something from a convert this weekend, well more precisely, I learned something by talking to one. The patience process that God puts us through, really does have a reason. Many times things occur more slowly than we would like, not only because of "timing" issues, but because formation is a process for humans. We are not always built to quickly change our minds and hearts, and a long process requiring patience, is often what we need.
I think for many of us reverts, converts, and cradle Catholics, that long for reform, change, or continuity... we need to be mindful that patience is part of this process, in fact it might even be an inherent part of it. So the next time we are praying for something, especially "big changes" let us be mindful of this patience. We need to realize that change is a process, and that there is a beauty and mystery in the process itself, and the results are often better, because of this process. As they say... Rome wasn't built in a day; and if we believe Fr. Z and others... the best way to build is BRICK BY BRICK, and it takes a long time to build things that way but they are done more precisely.
