Virgin Mary Statute reported stolen from St. Michael's in Palmer, AK

The Catholic Anchor is reporting:

A long-standing religious marker in Palmer was reported stolen April 13 after parishioners at St. Michael Church noticed that a large white statue of the Virgin Mary was missing from the outdoor shrine next to the parish.

According to a report by the Anchorage Daily News, the statue had stood in the shrine for more than 40 years.

Parish staff notified police of the theft April 14. The cost to replace the 5-foot statue was estimated to cost more than $3,000, not including shipping.
