Good Friday and Easter Sunday, are nearing so soon!

We are nearing Easter Sunday so soon, the most important festival for the Christians! It is this coming Sunday and my kids and me, are waiting when we'll be able to relish the yummy hot cross buns and the Easter eggs made of chocolate and marzipan. But before that comes good Friday, three days before Easter Sunday.. and this day is observed in prayers and fasting so that we are able to feel a bit of what Christ has been through, when he was crucified on the cross.

GOOD FRIDAY..
Is not a celebration day for the Christians. They believe according to Scripture, that Jesus Christ was executed by crucifixion. His body was taken down from the cross, and buried in a cave. The tomb was guarded and an enormous stone was put over the entrance, so that no-one could steal the body.Christians spend the day in prayers and fasting, and the fast is broken in the evening with hot cross buns only after a three hour service in the church which is held from noon to evening and consists of sermons, hymns, and prayers centered round Christ's "seven last words on the Cross."

EASTER SUNDAY..
is celebrated on the following Sunday.Three days after Christ was buried in tomb, after been taken down from the cross, some women visited the grave and found that the stone had been moved and that the tomb was empty.Jesus himself was seen that day by many people. His followers realised that God had raised Jesus from the dead.Since it is a happy day, the resurrection of Jesus Christ.. a well-attended service is held in the morning and the rest of the day, is spent in glory to god!

What's the story behind the Easter eggs and hot cross buns?

Easter Eggs

Amongst many of the legends told, a Polish legend tells of when Mary Magdalene went to the sepulchre to anoint the body of Jesus. She had with her a basket of eggs to serve as a repast. When she arrived at the sepulchre and uncovered the eggs, lo, the pure white shells had miraculously taken on a rainbow of colors.Since then eggs are decorated beautifully on the outside while the inside is filled with chocolate and given to children as Easter gift baskets and other gifts.decoration differs between countries and cultures and each have their own way of celebrating the festival too.

Hot cross Buns

The term "Hot Cross Bun" refers specifically to a sweet, mildly spiced bun containing currants. To modern Christians, the bun represents the cross and the crucifixion of Christ and mostly eaten only on Easter(good Friday)..

How do you celebrate the festival of Easter in your country and culture? as usual am curious to know, so please leave your comments below:)
