As the Inside AdWords blog approaches its three year anniversary we thought it would be useful to repeat a few reader favorites from our distant past, for those of you who have joined us only recently.
Today we re-visit a popular post from 2006, regarding the several ways in which you'll see 'CPC' mentioned in your account.
Over the years, a specialized vocabulary has evolved around cost-per-click (CPC) advertising, and many newer advertisers find themselves a bit at sea until they've spent a good amount of time with their accounts -- and in the AdWords Help Center, where they'll find a helpful glossary of the most commonly used terms.
One particular area of confusion revolves around the three types of CPCs -- Maximum CPC, Average CPC, and Minimum CPC -- so let's take a closer look at these terms:
CPC is an abbreviation for cost-per-click, and refers to the cost that you will pay (per click) when a user clicks on your ad.
Maximum CPC is a maximum amount that is set by you, the advertiser, and defines the most you wish to pay for a click on a keyword. Keep in mind that you don't automatically pay this maximum amount because the AdWords Discounter will always reduce the amount you are charged to be just one cent more than the minimum necessary to keep your position on the page.
Average CPC (also seen as Avg. CPC in your account) is literally that: an average. Since each click you receive may have a different CPC depending on a variety of factors, we show you the Average CPC in your account to give you an effective overview. The Average CPC is determined by totalling the cost of all clicks and then dividing that total by the number of clicks.
Minimum CPC (more commonly known as the minimum bid) is an amount based on the keyword's Quality Score that is assigned to each keyword in your account. The minimum bid is the least amount you may pay per click in order for your keyword to show ads.
We hope this sheds some light on the subject - and invite you to do a little further exploring in the searchable Help Center, if you'd like a greater depth of detail.

18 BENEFITS TO EATING BANANAS

I received this email from a friend and I thought I would share this with you. I love bananas, so this is right up my alley.
Bananas contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy.
Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes. But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.
1. Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.
2. PMS: Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.
3. Anemia: High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.
4. Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration have just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.
5. Brain Power: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school (England) were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.
6. Constipation: High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.
7. Hangovers: One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey the banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.
8. Heartburn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.
9. Morning Sickness: Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.
10. Mosquito bites: Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.
11. Nerves: Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system.
12. Overweight and at work? Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria
found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and chips. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady.
13. Ulcers: The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.
14. Temperature control: Many other cultures see bananas as a "cooling" fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand, for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.
15. Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancer tryptophan.
16. Smoking &Tobacco Use: Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.
17. Stress: Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack.
18. Strokes: According to research in The New England Journal of Medicine, eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%!
So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around. So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say, "A banana a day keeps the doctor away!"
Historic Day For Indian Business - Tata acquires Jaguar, Land Rover from Ford
Tata today acquired two of the most celebrated, royal and revered auto brands in the history of automobiles - Jaguar and Land Rover - for $2.3 billion from Ford Motor company.
Tata Sons and Tata Motors chairman Ratan Tata, said, "We are very pleased at the prospect of Jaguar and Land Rover being a significant part of our automotive business. We have enormous respect for the two brands and will endeavour to preserve and build on their heritage and competitiveness, keeping their identities intact. We aim to support their growth, while holding true to our principles of allowing the management and employees to bring their experience and expertise to bear on the growth of the business."
Just hours after Tata issued a low-key announcement to confirm it had "entered into a definitive agreement with the Ford Motor Company for the purchase of Jaguar Land Rover, comprising brands, plants and Intellectual Property Rights", the top bosses of Unite, the UK's largest trades union, said the deal "is really good news for the UK automotive industry".Tata is poised to become a global brand with this acquisition of Jaguar and Land Rover. India Inc. will now enter the world of autos besides the world of software and steel.
The UK India Business Council, (UKIBC) the lead organization supporting the promotion of bilateral trade, business and investment opportunities between the two countries, said the deal was an outstanding example of the UK's open economy. Its Chief Executive Sharon Bamford said the purchase was in line with "many significant (cross-border) deals in recent years (namely) Vodafone's acquisition of Hutch and Tata's previous acquisition of Tetley and more recently Corus, are leading examples of this".
UKIBC Chairman Lord Karan Bilimoria said, "Tata's purchase of Jaguar and Land Rover is only the latest example of the newfound confidence of Indian companies. Less than two months ago I sat in the new Tata Nano, and I witnessed history in the making. Indian companies are growing more confident in the global economy, and with this deal the country is on the move like never before."

Bring The Sexy Back To Your Online Banners
By Luis Galarza - Affiliate Marketing Secret Training Guide Blog.Is True, Online Banners Aren't Sexy And Don't Work Any More For Internet Marketing... BUT, Only When You Design Them The Wrong Way!
OK, so let's talk about online banners, I'm not going to tell you that they don't have the same type of response like 10 years ago, but there is hope...
Now after a lot of testing and seminars, I can tell you what type of banners are the one that will increase conversions like: Click-through, pre-selling that sells, and, oh! Hold on, I'm not talking about other uses for banners that also work, I will get into that tomorrow, after I get some sleep :)
First you need to forget including...
- Quick flashing animated images.
- Crazy high quality graphics.
- The "Click Here" message.
- Actually today you will not use any images.
Here is the secret: Online banners that have the highest conversion and responses are the ones that look like any other type of text ad. Yes, the secret was that simple, you have to remember that words sell not the graphics.
What the graphics do is complement the sales copy of your ad. Also to help your banner marketing campaign have a successful response, you have to:
1.- Follow the regular creation pattern of a contextual ad: Your ad sales copy needs to have a catchy headline, a irresistible offer on the body of the sales copy, and a call to action.
2.- Let Your Sales Copy Be Read: You need one of two things. Add enough white space so your copy can be easily read, for example: if you use white background make sure your text is in a really lite color. And second you can use a good contrast on colors and images as soon your text stand out, if not trash the images and keep the text.
3.- Don't Even Think About Telling Them Who You Are: Remember today I'm talking about how to increase the responses that you get from your banner advertising campaign, not using banner marketing as branding exposure tool. So, keep your ego at home, and take the sales copy hat to the office... This mean don't add your site domain name or URL, in your banner, this will tell your viewers that the only way they can get the information they want they have to click on the banner. Plus, this way you can track the advertising results, and use split testing on your ads to help you optimize your results.
4.- Let Them Know You Don't Want Them To Click Your Banner: Don't get confuse, what I mean with this is that you need to use the ad copy to pre-qualify your banner ad viewers, so you only get clicks from a targeted prospect not just any one. For example, if you don't want free ride seekers, just add the prise of your product or service on the ad copy, this will keep free riders away from clicking, which will increase your web site sales conversion.
TIP: Make your ad sales copy interesting and get your prospects curiosity high enough to make them click to check what you have to offer. And another thing... Make sure your landing page is customize for each banner, this is what will increase sales conversion for you even more.

In Conclusion: Test your banners, track everything, and do small changes, until you find the winner ad. Split test colors, headline, sales copy, the call to action, and do the same with your landing pages.

CARDIO PROGRAM FOR THE STARTER
If you are new to doing cardio, here is a program to help you get started. Begin with three days of cardio per week, going 20 minutes at an easy to moderate intensity. Try a variety of activities to find what you enjoy the most. I love lifestyle activities, so take a look at the list below and give a few of them a try over the next six weeks.
Don’t worry about your heart rate if this is the first time. Whether in a long time or ever, you’ve started an exercise program. The most important thing is just to do it. If you feel you’d like to push yourself a bit after the first couple of weeks, increase the intensity by adding resistance or going faster after 5-7 minute warm-up. Make sure you cool down at the end of every cardio session, and stretch out the legs so that you don’t feel as sore the next day.

Indoor Cycling
Inline Skating
Jogging (outdoor or treadmill)
Hiking
Incline walking
Swimming
Bicycling
Rowing
