Welcome to our mini-course on Ice Breakers: How to talk
to prospects with no rejection.
Lesson #1: The rules.
Everyone can talk to prospects.
We can say: "Hi. How are you? How is the weather?"
That's easy.
The hard part is:
"How do I take the conversation from personal issues
and introduce my business into the conversation?"
We don't want to appear to be pushy salespeople.
We don't want to appear to be taking advantage of our
friendships.
And we certainly don't want to sound like this:
"Hi. How are you? How is the weather? Want to be a
distributor?"
So let's set up some rules for our "Ice Breakers."
Rule #1: All "Ice Breakers" must be rejection-free. If
there is any chance of rejection, our downline will
never risk using them. They will continue to keep our
business top secret.
Rule #2: Our "Ice Breakers" should never high-pressure
or embarrass our prospects. We have to live in our
communities, and we don't want to move every six months
after insulting or embarrassing our friends.
Rule #3: Our "Ice Breakers" should have a high
probability of success. If they never work, well,
we would get discouraged.
Rule #4: Our "Ice Breakers" should get our prospects to
respond by saying: "How does that work? Tell me more."
We want our prospects to be asking us for presentations.
We all talk to prospects. We just say the wrong things.
Let's start saying things that get our prospects to ask
us for a presentation, rejection-free.
In Lesson #2 I will show you what NOT to say to prospects.
(Lesson #3 is the secret to "Ice Breakers.")

Make the move...to Google Accounts
In the next few weeks, we'll soon be requiring all publishers to update to a Google Account. If you haven't yet updated your account, we recommend doing so as soon as possible to avoid any issues with account access later. Just sign in and follow the instructions in the wizard that will automatically appear. If you don't see the wizard, it means that your info has already moved to Google Accounts.
In messages to us and in the Help Forum, we've heard a number of concerns about moving to Google Accounts. We'd like to take a moment to address them.
I don't want to update my AdSense account to the Google Account I use for all of my other products. I'd prefer to keep them separate.
That's okay -- you can maintain multiple Google Accounts, so you're welcome to migrate your AdSense account to a different Google Account than the one you use for other products. For example, you could maintain your 'publisher@gmail.com' account for services like Gmail and Webmaster Tools, but create a new Google Account associated with 'publisher@yoursite.com' just to use for your AdSense account. When prompted to pick the radio button that best describes you, select 'I have an email address and password (Google Account) I already use with Google services like Gmail, Orkut, or the personalized home page.', and then 'I'd like to choose a new login name and password just for AdSense'.
Is this secure? I already gave AdWords with my credit card information and AdSense with my bank account info. I don't trust this.
Please be assured that we take the security of AdSense accounts very seriously, and your AdSense information will never be shared across products. We don't have access to your AdWords credit card from our end, and AdWords doesn't have access to your bank account information (if you've set up EFT). Again, if you'd prefer to keep your two accounts separate, just follow the instructions above.
I tried to update my account in the past, but I saw this error message: 'The Google Account you've selected is associated with another user.' What do I do?
It means that the email address you chose had previously been used to apply for an AdSense account (which may or may not have been approved). However, we've just clarified the messaging in our wizard to help you understand which situation applies to you. In most cases, we've found that publishers are attempting to update their login to an email address associated with an unapproved application. We've just made it possible to continue with the update process from within the wizard in this situation. If you're attempting to update to an email address being used for a different approved AdSense account, you'll receive further options and instructions.
What happens if I don't update?
If you choose not to update your account after the requirement change, you'll no longer be able to sign in to your account. As a result, we encourage you to begin updating your accounts as soon as possible.
Finally, we recommend looking through our Help Center for more information about updating your account to Google Accounts.

Costco Innovations
Costco has grown its lead in key retail segments by offering great prices, convenience, and "treasure hunt" shopping atmosphere. In 2007, Costco generated $456 million of U.S. Fine Wine sales, racked up $1.9 billion in TV sales, had a growing electronics business, showed substantial increase in diamond business with sales of 105,000 carats, sold over $550 million of Seafood, grew the chicken business from practically nothing to $173 million, provided 27.9 million prescriptions through its pharmacy, sold over 2.4 million pairs of glasses, processed 1.3 billion prints through the One Hour photo service, and sold 69.3 million hotdog and sodas. More partner site examples from the Google content network
To help answer this question, we just re-launched the Partners page on the Google content network microsite to include a more comprehensive set of examples of where your ads can appear. After all, the content network is comprised of hundreds of thousands of web sites, from information and news sites like About.com and the New York Times, to blogs like Ask the Builder. And while it's not possible to individually name all the sites in the content network, the revamped Partners page is meant to better demonstrate the variety of sites available. Below are some features of the new Partners page:
- Sites are organized by category. This will help you browse sites by categories that represent your target audience, such as Finance, News, Entertainment, Technology, etc. For example, if you sell herbal teas, you might browse through the Health & Fitness or Home & Garden categories to see examples of related sites. Or, if your target demographic is female, you can try the Women's Interest category.
- Once you find a site that's relevant to your product or service, you can use placement targeting to target your ads to that site directly. We recommend you use the Placement Tool to determine whether a specific site is available for targeting, and to identify other relevant placements to target. Further, if your campaign is already running on the content network, you can see the sites where your ad has appeared by running a Placement performance report.
- For those of you targeting users in other countries, a drop-down menu lets you browse partner sites in countries in Europe, Asia, and Latin America.

AdSense earnings can help you and others too
This month, we hope that you'll consider making a difference for others by contributing a portion of your AdSense revenue to the cyclone relief efforts in Myanmar (Burma) and in China. Google.org is donating more than $1.5 million to assist in the relief and rebuilding efforts.
We especially encourage our US and UK publishers to use Google Checkout to donate:
http://www.google.com/myanmarcyclone
http://www.google.com/chinaearthquake
In addition to monetary contributions, the affected areas may also need tents, medicine, or other items. We encourage you to contact your local Red Cross to find out how to donate these items.
If you'd like to help out even more, you can add a gadget for China or Myanmar (Burma) to your website to encourage your visitors to make their own donations.
Naturally, we want to hear about your generosity, so please let us know if you're able to donate.
